Respite offer

Thanks to the 2024 edition of “Watches for ELA,” European families were invited to relaxing getaways where they could enjoy each other’s company and recharge their batteries before heading back to their daily fight against the disease 

More than 1,300 people benefited from these respite weekends in 2025. 

In Belgium

On May 24 and 25, 16 families supported by ELA Belgium were able to escape their daily routines for a magical weekend at Disneyland Paris. Fifty-seven people shared memorable moments filled with emotion, laughter, and wonder. These were moments of pure joy, where the stresses of everyday life gave way to the simple pleasure of being together in a setting designed to inspire dreams.

In Germany

From Friday, June 6, to Monday, June 9, 70 people attended ELA Germany’s traditional weekend gathering in Duderstadt. The families returned home with cherished memories and renewed courage and energy to face daily life with the disease.

In Italy

From June 21 to 24, the families of ELA Italy gathered at the Simon Hotel in Pomezia for a get-together. About a hundred people enjoyed activities open to everyone and a chance to reconnect in a friendly atmosphere. All the families appreciated these moments of sharing and relaxation.

In Switzerland

From August 8 to 10, ELA Switzerland organized its family weekend in Charmey (canton of Fribourg), which brought together 90 people. This much-anticipated event offered sick children and their families a rejuvenating getaway, featuring age-appropriate activities, moments of respite, and warm interactions.

In France

ELA France’s family gathering weekend took place from August 22 to 25 at Center Parcs Les Hauts de Bruyères in Sologne. A total of 141 families, nearly 900 people,took part in activities adapted for everyone: sound therapy, massages, adapted sports, swimming…

In Spain

From September 25 to 28, 36 families (114 people in total) gathered at the Real Colegio PP Agustinos for their 21st national gathering. The event served to strengthen ties between families, healthcare professionals, and organizations, while providing an opportunity to share meaningful personal and cultural experiences.
